 Q:    How many direct mail fliers should we send out to get the best return.
A;  This is a difficult question. Of course the true answer is, the more you reach the better your chances of targeting everyone that’s interested in making a lifestyle change.We recommend at least 20,000 to 30,000 if your budget will allow. Some clubs will do half and half with 10,000 to 15,000 going out one week and another 10,000 to 15,000 in the following weeks. If you send less than 10,000 you will certainly run the risk of not creating enough excitement in the market ,thus resulting in decreased returns. It’s all about the numbers. We understand the risk…but then again you can’t afford not to make an impact in your community. In this case we found that more is better.
    
Q:  What is the expected return on the pieces mailed?
A:  This varies with each market but after 12 years we have been able to refine the process into predictable terms. Responses range between 1% and 2% or higher depending on the offer. The highest recorded in the past was around 4% however, this is not the norm and is only to inform you of both ends of the spectrum.
 
Q:  What results have other clubs seen?
A:  On average most clubs are able to consistently enroll 50 to 100 new members in each campaign. Each market is different and a lot has to do with the current level of competition and the individual need for a fitness program in your area.
 
Q:   How will this affect my normal sales?
A:      prospects are drawn into the club by direct mail they are easily screened and you can track the entire campaign. Your normal sales will continue as usual and this will be an added bonus for the month.  Basically…It’s a membership drive that focuses on the  special segment of your fitness market.
