D1 Training Plans Expansion in 2022
D1 Training, Nashville, plans to use funding it received late in 2021 from Princeton Equity Group to help it award more than 70 units in 2022, the company announced this week. The growth would bring its development total to more than 250 facilities nationwide.
In 2021, D1 opened seven new locations, awarded 36 franchises and experienced 48 percent same-store-sales growth year-over-year, according to the announcement. In November, the company shared that it had sustained consistent record-breaking revenue months since June 2020.
“One of our main differentiators, and what makes D1 a game changer in the industry, is our Scholastic Training that makes up over 61 percent of total revenue,” said COO Dan Murphy. “Simply put, there is no other fitness franchise offering a focus on the scholastic athlete quite like we do, while also providing a superior adult training experience.”
All locations offer three core training programs, Scholastic (Rookie, Developmental, Prep and Overtime), Adult and Pro. Each fitness program is based on five athletic-based tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. Outside of group workouts, D1 Training offers one-on-one training.
“We attribute our brand’s success to our strong franchise network that shares our same community-first mentality and believes in delivering the D1 experience to everyone,” Murphy said. “We’ve been seeing all-time high surges in memberships, validating the importance of fitness, health and wellness among consumers. Now, we continue to see engagement at or above pre-pandemic levels across the nation.”
Founded in 2001 by former NFL player Will Bartholomew, D1 Training began franchising in 2017. Franchisees include professional athletes Tim Tebow, Peyton Manning and Von Miller.
In 2021, D1 Training ranked No. 3,208 on the Inc. 5000, was named a top 30 gym in America by Men’s Health Magazine and was endorsed by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Also in 2021, D1 Training ranked No. 481 in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500, but it wasn’t ranked on the 2022 list, which came out earlier this month. Club NewsIndustry News
