Tennessee’s first location of Title Boxing Club is coming to Clarksville, courtesy of local owners Kris and Michelle Bender and local partner/general manager Kathy Sayle. It’s a fitness concept whose aim is to offer “explosive, total-body boxing and kickboxing workouts,” designed by former professional boxer Danny Campbell.
Title Boxing is scheduled to open for business here this month at its newly constructed home, at 1719 Wilma Rudolph Blvd. “With Title Boxing, you get a total body workout that’s fun. It’s just different and innovative,” Sayle said. “I know that when I work out, I like privacy, and with Title Boxing, your focus is on that punching bag. You really feel like you’re working out in private, in your own space.”
Kris Bender added, “They’ve taken the boxer’s workout and brought it mainstream where anybody can do it. It is suited for all fitness levels.“We’re going to bring a new image and understanding of fitness to this market that has not been seen here yet,” he said. “Title Boxing Club is filling a niche in the fitness industry as women ages 30-45 years old are the largest demographic taking part. The 60-minute workout guarantees results, and the non-threatening environment appeals to women. The concept is really catching fire, and we’re excited to be able to offer such a fun, effective workout to residents in the area.”Campbell’s “Power Hour” workout burns up to 1,000 calories and “focuses on intense, fun and effective group boxing exercises and personal, one-on-one training in a no-hassle atmosphere,” the company says. These boxing and kickboxing workouts are intended to help members emotionally and physically, changing their lifestyle and leaving them feeling empowered.“Consumers are tired of the same old traditional gym model and are searching for a workout program that will give them fast results they can actually see,” said Campbell, the co-founder and partner of Title Boxing Club. “The Title Boxing Club workout is based on a professional boxer’s training regimen, so it’s actually going to give members the results they want while at the same time changing them from a physical and mental level. This workout is catching fire, especially among women. They leave our clubs with an unmatched sense of empowerment. It changes their lives.”
In addition to the Wilma Rudolph Boulevard location opening this month, the Benders have plans to open an additional Clarksville club near The Great Escape Theater by the end of 2012.Kris Bender and Sayle said their goal initially is to have 200 members signed up for the Clarksville location before Saturday, Oct. 13. “It will be a free registration for anyone who signs up, and they’ll get their starter kit for $25 – that’s a $200-plus savings. This offer is prior to the grand opening,” Bender said.
Title Boxing Club does not promote actual fighting in its clubs, but rather encourages all participants at different fitness levels to work out at their own pace. Trained instructors lead the classes, each with different motivational styles and techniques. Some instructors focus on upper-body training, while others might incorporate more cardiovascular exercises into their session. Each location is outfitted with a heavy bag station featuring suspended bags where the Power Hour group classes are held. Members can use the traditional fitness equipment, including free weights and treadmills. Each Title Boxing Club location also features a retail shop where customers can purchase the club’s official boxing gear and merchandise including T-shirts, boxing gloves and hand wraps. The company currently has 30 locations open across the country and 200 in development.
