HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – An SUV crashed into a Planet Fitness gym on  W. Mercury Blvd. Sunday morning, sending the driver to a local hospital.

Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 1000 block of W. Mercury Blvd round 11:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a building.

A Fire Department spokesman tells WAVY.com that the driver of the vehicle was injured but no one inside the gym was harmed.

The age and gender of the driver as well as the circumstances surrounding the crash have not been released.
