THERE IS NO ENHANCEMENT OF THE HUMAN BODY,
BEYOND THE ORDINARY,
UNLESS IT IS SUBJECTED TO ACTIVITY –
BEYOND – WHAT IS ORDINARY
Physical activity can be defined as simply as stress. Exercise [stress] is the implementation of a program of regular physical activity – designed to effect specific human organs, functions and attributes with the end goal of attaining results – commonly defined as enhancement. Methodologies can vary, but goals are most always focused on the areas of physical fitness, rehabilitation and athletic enhancement.
ISOKINETIC PHILOSPHY – TRAIN >>>FAST TO BE FAST
The use of isokinetic devices in athletic training allows the athlete to replicate game speeds.
Isokinetic Exercise [definition from: SportsMD]
Traditional weight lifting exercises are performed at variable speeds at a fixed resistance or weight. Isokinetic exercises are performed at a dynamic preset fixed speed (ranging from 1 degree per second to approximately 1000 degrees per second) with resistance that is accommodating throughout the full range of motion (ROM). Accommodating resistance means that Isokinetic exercise is the only way to dynamically load a muscle to its maximum capability throughout every point in the ROM.Therefore, the resistance varies to exactly match the force applied by the athlete at every point in the ROM.
The ‘Gold-Standard’ of athletic training today – is SPEED ENHANCEMENT. The optimum method to increase speed is to train an athlete at game speed, something not possible with isotonics (weight training) alone.
ISOKINETIC EQUIPMENT:
- Safe – Less chance of injury, especially mid-to-late “in season” – eliminates the joint compression or muscle stretch experienced with weight training
- Allows the athlete to train at ‘game speeds’ – 1000 degrees per second [traditional training methods like plyometric are between 50 – 100 degrees per second, weigh training is a fraction of those speeds]
- Devices with “duel resistance controls” address bilateral extension & flexion goals
- WORKS THE BRAIN’S NEURO-MUSCULAR PATH WAYS causing physical and mental residual benefits such as run faster and jump higher and sharper reflexes
- Enhances white fast twitch muscle fiber [aka: type 2b fiber]
- Trains opposing muscle groups at the same time with duel concentric movements
- Enhances the cardiovascular system which burns fat and increases endurance
- Increases lactic acid thresholds as a result of duel-concentric loading, this is vital for dynamic sports
- Shorter training duration achieves results
- Quicker rehabilitation/recovery
- Real-time performance data is recorded on interactive touch screen computers memorializes the user’s strengths and weaknesses and is a pro-active tool for injury prevention
- No delayed muscle soreness (DOMS) due to – no-load on joints or stretch on muscle fibers while under tension [motto: “No pain – no Gain” is now obsolete!]
- Builds strength too – grows the user’s ability to control resistance levels through the full-range-of-motion [no cheating as in the ballistic motions common in isotonic training
- Fills the void after STRENGTH TRAINING with the even more important attribute SPEED
