Tough Titsday class gets member banned from gym …..it’s “misogynistic”
A New York woman says she was banned from a gym after she complained about the facility’s class “Tough Titsday.”
CrossFit South Brooklyn started the Tough Titsday class in 2011, according to the website Jezebel. The class is billed as an all-women, four-part fitness series.
The woman who complained already belonged to the gym. She says when she heard about the class, she found the name to be offensive. She wrote to the owner, saying the name was “misogynistic” and suggested changing it.
Jezebel reports the creator of the class, Margie Lempert, responded to the email, saying the class was intended to celebrate and empower women. “As for the name, well, it is just as it seems, a subversive, cheeky reclamation of silly vulgarity,” Lempert wrote in the email.
The woman went back and forth with Lempert and CrossFit’s owner, David Osorio. Everything came to a head when Osorio had enough with the woman’s emails. According to Jezebel, he sent her an email saying he was upset she was questioning his judgment and banned her from the gym.Tough Titsday class gets member banned from gym …..it’s “misogynistic”
Osorio later wrote on the gym’s website that he didn’t ban the woman because she voiced an opinion. He says she continued to criticize him personally, and as a small business owner, he can deny a customer service if he chooses.Tough Titsday class gets member banned from gym …..it’s “misogynistic”
