BATON ROUGE, LA – It is the end of the road for the embattled Powerhouse Gym in Baton Rouge. Friday the owners of the gym were officially evicted from the building in court. The eviction process officially started when attorneys representing the Muriel Land Corporation filed suit to have Ronnie and Connie Olah evicted from the premises. There are still many people looking to get refunds for memberships paid to the gym even before it open. Stephanie Montalbano paid more than $800 to the owners, Connie and Ronnie Olah. She has yet to get her promised refund and Friday’s news wasn’t what she was looking forward to hearing.”I had kind of had some hope that I was going to be able to get a refund,” Montalbano said.”I’ve been kind of waiting and giving them the benefit of the doubt- it’s very disappointing to hear this.” Ronnie Olah promised the gym would be completely operation soon as his team started deducting membership fees from hundreds of accounts in the last few weeks.Powerhouse Gym and its construction’s financial problems have been well documented, including several battles with contractors over a year and half period. The gym owners advertised a huge, state of the art gym in Baton Rouge to open January 2012.Olah opened a small temporary part of the gym just a few weeks ago, but with Friday’s eviction, now that too is closed. The telephone and cell phone numbers normally answered by Ronnie Olah – are now no longer working. The attorney representing the Muriel Land Corporation, which owns the property, did not return calls by late Friday afternoon. Now members are left in a holding pattern- and will have to wait and see.
