Powerhouse Gym closes one of three locations
Customers at a local gym are being assured that everything will be “made right” despite the closure of one of the local locations.
Patrons were greeted with a notice on the door of the Brownstown Township Powerhouse Gym, 19055 Allen Road, announcing the closure Sunday.
According to director of operations Mike Agemy members will be allowed to go to either of the other two locations, in Lincoln Park, 2146 Fort Street, or Dearborn, 3633 South Telegraph, without any additional fees.
“We’re thankful for more than 15 years in that location,” Agemy said. “Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control it’s not an option to stay there at the moment.”
Agemy declined to give details on why the gym closed, only saying that he is looking into options.
The Lincoln Park location is less than six miles away, according to Agemy. He said any patron who registered a membership at the Brownstown gym that feels the added travel is an issue can come in to discuss ways to change their contract.
“We don’t want to add any undue stress on any of our members,” he said. “We want to keep them all, but we’ll work with those that can’t stay on a solution.”
Agemy said anyone wanting to work out a deal will have to come into one of the other gyms in person, but they can call for details or to set up an appointment.
Despite the closure of the location Agemy pointed out that previous agreements with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Officers, Dearborn/Melvindale Firefighters, Dearborn Police officers and active duty military allowing them free use of the facilities will remain for the other two locations.
The Dearborn location can be reached at 1-313-277-5295 and the Lincoln Park location can be reached at 1-313-381-2125. They can also be reached on the web at powerhousgym.com/dearborn, or powerhousegym.com/lincolnpark.
