Planet Fitness opening in this town?

The Planet Fitness at the Vestavia Hills City Center is now open.

The popular gym will be hosting a grand opening this week, according to a report from vestaviavoice.com.

As we reported in January, the 20,000-square-foot location is one of two Planet Fitness locations slated to open in the Birmingham metro this year.

Planet Fitness has four other locations in operation in the Birmingham area, including 1839 Montgomery Highway in Hoover, 9118 Parkway East, 168 Inverness Plaza and 146 Wildwood Parkway.

Last month, we reported the gym had signed a 12,000-square-foot lease at the Shops of Montevallo and will take the former CVS Pharmacy space at the center.

No opening date for that location has been announced.
