Planet Fitness bandit signed up with fake names

Albuquerque police say one woman is a familiar face at local gyms, but not because she’s working out.

Police say they finally spotted Duncan near the Planet Fitness on Alameda Sunday.

When a detective decided to ask her a few questions, police say her accomplice showed up.

“Her accomplice pulled up in a getaway vehicle and pointed a gun at the detective,” said Officer Tanner Tixier.

The detective was in fear of being shot, the complaint says, so he picked up Duncan and used her as a shield.

“I’m sure that the detective in a split-second decided, ‘This is my best course of action at this particular moment,'” said Tixier.

Police say that’s when the getaway driver took off, and the detective arrested Duncan.

Duncan is facing auto theft and forgery charges. Police say they’re working to return any stolen vehicles to their rightful owners.
