Palos Health & Fitness closingPalos Health & Fitness closing in May.  Palos Health & Fitness Center in Orland Park, which is owned by Palos Community Hospital, will close May 1, hospital officials confirmed.

It will be replaced with a new medical office building, featuring diagnostic and treatment services.

Members of the center were recently informed of the decision to close the 78,000-square-foot facility, which includes a lap and therapy pool, indoor track, spa and cafe.Palos Health & Fitness

“The difficult decision to close the fitness center is part of our work to identify and prioritize areas and services where we can make the most impact in delivering quality health care to the southwest suburbs,” Mazeika said in the statement. “We value our role as a member of the community, and that is where our commitment remains.”

The redevelopment of the property will incorporate new access points and expanded parking, she said.

“This was a difficult decision and one made after a thorough consideration of Palos’ role in meeting the broader health care needs of the community through improving access to quality medical care,” Mazeika said.
