SCOTTSDALE, AZ – A man who works with children at a Scottsdale health club is charged in connection with an investigation into sexually-suggestive, underwater pool pictures of young girls posted on a child pornography website, according to court documents.
Edward O. Orth IV is charged with eleven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
He works in the child care area at Lifetime Fitness on E. Chauncey Lane in Scottsdale, documents said.
The investigation began after Homeland Security Investigations officers found online photos that were “taken underwater, in what appears to be a public pool,” according to documents.
Most of the photos were “close up photos of the genital and buttock areas” of “pre-pubescent and possibly adolescent girls in swim suits,” documents said.
Court documents did not say definitively that the posted photos were taken at Lifetime Fitness.
After finding the photos online, authorities tracked the internet connection through which they were posted.
That connection belongs to Orth, documents said.
Authorities earlier this month tracked Orth to Lifetime Fitness, where they found him in a pool with a small group of children, documents said.
Officers returned to the health club Thursday and arrested him.
Orth, who was still in jail Monday, declined a request for a jailhouse interview.
A Lifetime Fitness spokesperson released the following statement:
“As a company committed to delivering safe, fun, family oriented environments, we obviously find these allegations to be alarming. Currently, we are conducting an internal investigation as well [as] collaborating with the authorities in their investigation. I can confirm that the individual in question is not in a position to serve members in any capacity at this time. No additional detail is available pending the outcome of this investigation. As always, we remain committed to the safety and security of our members and guests.”
