New plans announced for Hailey’s Copper Ranch Health Club. After several years lying vacant, the Copper Ranch Health Club at 1950 Woodside Boulevard in Hailey will soon open its doors on a new era.

New plans announced for Hailey’s Copper Ranch Health Club International tennis pro Mats Wilander and Hailey martial arts instructor Oliver Whitcomb have plans to reopen the 40,000-square-foot club as a full-service state-of-the-art gym, training facility and community recreation center.

The club has three indoor tennis courts that will be used for an expanded tennis program led by Wilander, a former world singles tennis champion.

According to a press release from the partners, Wilander will bring himself and a team of qualified tennis pros to serve all ages and abilities in extensive tennis programs.

“Our goal is to make exercise in the South Valley affordable so more people have access to a quality facility to support their exercise needs,” states a “club philosophy” statement issued by the partners.

A $2.1 million club construction renovation underway at the facility will include a 5,000-square-foot functional training room, Astroturf for indoor sports, including soccer and lacrosse, and a “mind/body” room for yoga, Pilates and aerial arts.

Wilander and Whitcomb will own the business, have overseen the interior design and will spend more than $400,000 to equip the facility, Whitcomb said.

Copper Ranch developer Jeff Smith will retain ownership of the facility. Under an agreement with the city of Hailey, completion of the health club will allow Smith to develop the Copper Ranch townhomes on now vacant land around the facility.
