A former bookkeeper at a health club in Monmouth County has been indicted on 11 charges in connection with the theft of $223,000 over a five-year-period, authorities said.

Jennifer Ambrosino, 41, of Point Pleasant Borough, changed bank statements, initiated false wire transfers and submitted incorrect reconciliation paperwork in stealing the money from The Atlantic Club in Wall, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement Monday.

A grand jury sitting in Freehold handed up the indictment on one count apiece of theft of movable property, computer criminal activity and falsifying records. Ambrosino is also charged with four counts each of failure to pay taxes and filing of a fraudulent tax return.

She took the money for personal use between January 2012 an June 2017, prosecutors allege.

The Atlantic Club, which is in Wall with a Manasquan mailing address, has a location in Red Bank.
