LifeTime Fitness announces opening date for super mega gym.
Construction of the giant, new LifeTime Fitness (NYSE: LTM) health club and gym complex on Falls of Neuse Road in north Raleigh will be wrapping up soon as the club makes plans to open to its full membership on March 10.
The club’s “founding” members, or those who were among the first 1,500 people to sign up, will get an exclusive five-day preview starting March 5.
LifeTime Fitness General Manager Derek Nereu wouldn’t disclose how many memberships have already been sold for the new facility located near the I-540 interchange with Falls of Neuse Road, but he says most LifeTime Fitness’ clubs of this size have on average between 6,500 to 8,000 memberships once they are fully ramped up.
The Raleigh club will also employ close to 300 people.
Like the company’s Cary facility that opened in 2006, the north Raleigh health club includes a two-story, 112,000-square-foot building with areas dedicated to exercise and training areas, gymnasium courts and a spa. It also has a leisure pool and lap pool with a cabana area for families.
However, Nereu says, unlike the Cary location, the north Raleigh club is adding the company’s Kids Academy concept where families of children between the ages of 3 months to 11 years old can pay an extra $20 per month for access a special play areas for kids with 85 classes of week ranging from gymnastics and music appreciation to cheerleading and sports.
The north Raleigh club also has a half-mile grass running track and turf facilities on the 80-acre site for other outdoor sports activities.
Membership costs for full club access at the Raleigh club range from $77 per month for an individual to $167 per month for a family.
