Lifestyle Family Fitness has closed

Palm Harbor’s Lifestyle Family Fitness has closed.

Last month, the company informed gym members that the location would close at 2 p.m. on Oct. 1. The announcement about the closure came a few months after LA Fitness purchased Lifestyle Family Fitness.

The sign has been removed from the building and the parking lot, which was often filled, is empty. As of Wednesday, Oct. 3, gym equipment was still visible inside the building. 

Lifestyle Family Fitness members are allowed to use LA Fitness gyms, according to LA Fitness.

We heard from one Palm Harbor resident who is the mother of two and says she canceled her membership after she was told she would have to pay $10 extra for the use of the “Kid’s Club” after LA Fitness bought Lifestyle Family Fitness.

“There was no notification of an increase in price change or advanced notice this was coming. Management should honor what was agreed too OR at least tell your members there will be a change in pricing/memberships. Common courtesy and goodwill,” wrote Connie Kremser.

If you are a Lifestyle Family Fitness member, you can use the LA Fitness in Palm Harbor  located at 35104 U.S. 19, which is less than a mile away from the closed Lifestyle Family Fitness. 

Lifestyle Family Fitness is the second nationally-known business to close in the Palm Harbor shopping complex, which is located at the corner of Nebraska Avenue and U.S. 19.  Books a Million closed in September of 2011.

Are you a member of Lifestyle Family Fitness? Here is some information from the LA Fitness website about the acquisition of Lifestyle Family Fitness-

  • LA Fitness will be honoring all of the active membership agreements that it purchased from Lifestyle Family Fitness. 
  • All active Lifestyle Family Fitness multi-club memberships will be honored at their current rate, and these multi-club members will have access to all Lifestyle Family Fitness locations acquired by LA Fitness. 
  • Similarly, all active single club members will be honored at their current rate with the same access they have now to the Lifestyle Family Fitness location where they joined.
