Gold’s Gym to open new locationNew neighbors are moving in to the Westlake Village shopping center, and they are packing some muscle.

Gold’s Gym will take over the space recently vacated by Barnes and Noble booksellers in the West Lake Hills shopping center at the intersection of Bee Cave Road and Loop 360, said Buck Cody, vice president of the retail division of Endeavor Real Estate. The global gym company will be conducting extensive renovation over the next few months to turn the old book store space into a state-of-the-art fitness facility. “We have turned the space over to them, and I would expect them to be submitting permits to begin renovation soon,” Cody said.

Gold’s Gym corporate documentation says the company maintains 650 gym locations in 40 U.S. states and 30 countries throughout the world with a membership of more than three million. The company opened its first gym in Venice Beach, Calif. in 1965. There are currently has 11 locations in the Austin area.Gold’s Gym to open new location
