Planet Fitness is bringing its signature grunt-free, judgment-free, comfortable and non-competitive fitness experience to Oro Valley. The new 14,000 square foot fitness center designed for people who don’t ‘do’ gyms will hold its grand opening event on February 1, 2013, 4:00-7:00 pm at Rooney Ranch Plaza, (10525 N Oracle Road.) Festivities will include music by a live DJ; pizza for everyone; flat screen television raffle for “referring” friends; Planet Fitness and other local business giveaways; Coke and Red Bull booths; and a ribbon cutting and community donation ceremony featuring Eric Goodwin, Tucson Planet Fitness franchise investment partner, Town of Oro Valley Council Members and Dave Perry, President of the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce. Jessica Delfs, The Biggest Loser, Season ten contestant and Tucson native will make a special guest appearance.

Fourteen Planet Fitness locations will be opened in the Tucson area over the next several years. Planet Fitness caters to first-time or occasional gym goers with a focused, simple, fitness-oriented approach. The Oro Valley location features over 100 cardio machines, a resistance area, stretching and specialty focus area, and a 30-minute interval training circuit. The gym’s no-nonsense approach excludes extras like day-care and juice bars and instead opts to offer members amenities that include infrared therapy booths, tanning beds and booths, hydro-massage beds, and traditional massage chairs. The Oro Valley facility will continue its country-wide ‘no guilt’ tradition of offering monthly pizza nights, bagel mornings and Tootsie Roll treats to members. Staff will also continue to enforce a fun and relaxed no grunting, non-intimidating atmosphere.
