Female CrossFit trainer stabs intruder to death

A young US fitness trained has fatally stabbed a home invader with a kitchen knife reportedly to protect her husband.

Tennyson Salopek Jacobson reportedly knifed the man, aged in his 30s or 40s, to stop him strangling husband Kyle during a struggle at their home in the Cascades foothills, near Seattle, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The same man is suspected to have broken into the couple’s home just 12 hours earlier and robbed Jacobson as she celebrated her first Mother’s Day with her baby daughter and her own mother.

In that attack, Jacobson was grabbed by her hair from behind, slapped and punched in the face and suffered an ankle injury as she was dragged by her hair.

The robber took some cash but the young mother did not get a good look at him.

Police searched for the suspect at the time but were unable to find him.

He apparently reappeared in the couple’s home around 1.40am on Monday, entering through an unlocked door.

The couple’s dogs began barking, waking up the pair, and soon husband Kyle was face-to-face with the unidentified intruder in their hallway.

They began fighting and Jacobson, who works at a CrossFit gym, jumped in to help.

Her mother also became involved in the altercation, local police said.

The couple had no significant injuries from the fight, but they were likely sore because it was “quite a struggle,” said Sergeant Cindi West from King County Sheriff’s Department.

Police are now trying to find out why the residents were targeted by the intruder.

The Jacobsons did not know the man and neighbours have said he may have come from a homeless camp in nearby woods.

It is not known whether any charges will be filed against trainer, who has been deluged with messages of support on Facebook from friends, with one declaring her a “mother, protector, wife, business woman and heroine”.
