Anytime Fitness buys hair-removal company

Anytime Fitness Inc. said Monday it has bought Waxing the City, a small chain of salons dedicated to waxing and hair removal services.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

Denver-based Waxing the City was founded nine years ago and now has four locations in the Denver area and one in Dallas. Its first Minnesota location is expected to open next month in Woodbury.

Hastings-based Anytime Fitness said the purchase is part of its strategy to expand into “recession-resilient industries that make a difference in people’s lives.”
