Acquisition complete: EoS Fitness adds Texans Fit gym chain to its portfolio

On April 6th, EoS Fitness announced the acquisition of Texans Fit, a chain of five gyms owned by the Houston Texans NFL team and fitness company M6 Football. The purchase price was not disclosed.

M6 Football, owned by former 24 Hour Fitness CEO and founder Mark Mastrov, partnered with several NFL teams to open gyms branded with their team names, promising members they could work out like the pros. According to Front Office Sports, pricing at these clubs could range from $49 to $99 for individuals and $124 for families. In contrast, EoS Fitness memberships start at $9.99 per month. The company plans to update its members on membership packages in the coming weeks.

Each of the Texans Fit clubs will be rebranded as EoS Fitness, and the company is assessing possible upgrades and renovations, as well as day-to-day operations. The acquisition expands EoS Fitness’ Texas presence and brings the total number of open gyms to 75.

In May 2022, EoS Fitness moved its headquarters from Phoenix to Dallas to offer a more centralized location for national support as it plans to expand across the country. In January 2019, the company received a $120 million one-loan debt facility from New York-based lender Golub Capital to refinance and expand its club footprint in the United States. EoS Fitness now has 75 clubs across Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Texas, and Utah.

The acquisition of Texans Fit is part of EoS Fitness’ growth plans in existing and new markets throughout 2023, according to CEO Rich Drengberg. The company plans to expand in states where it already has a presence and enter new states, with over 100 new gyms planned to open by 2028, bringing the total number of locations to more than 200.

EoS Fitness has more than 15 additional locations set to open this year, including one in Spring, Texas, which is scheduled to open later this month. The company projects that it will open more than 50 new gyms in the Greater Houston area and the Dallas/Forth Worth Metroplex over the next five years. Texans Fit had employed approximately 120 gym-level employees, all of whom have been given the option to remain employed through EoS Fitness after the acquisition, and gym services will continue uninterrupted.
