Former members of Gold’s Gym flock to other fitness centers

Former members of Gold’s Gym flock to other fitness centers.

Gold’s Gym members are flocking to other facilities after Gold’s shut down on Friday.

We spoke with the owners and managers at several area gyms who all say they’ve been extremely busy signing up new members.

Snap Fitness in Lewiston planned ahead for the influx. They ordered some new equipment to handle all the new members. A membership with Snap allows you to work out at either their Lewiston or Clarkston locations.

Anytime Fitness is offering lower dues for Gold’s Gym refugees. They’re also in the process of doubling the size of their group fitness room.

Adcope is the next largest facility after Gold’s. They offer a five-day free trial.

“We’re giving tours basically around the clock with interested members,” said Adcope Athletic Club General Manager, Nick Bacon. “Daily visits are up 22% since last week and we’ve signed over 100 new members in just 5 days.”

Management at Gold’s Gym said that they had 2,400 members. They also had to let 45 staff members go when they closed on Friday.
