Gym Owner Facing Drug Charges
Gym Owner Facing Drug Charges
A gym owner in St. John’s is facing drug charges after a lengthy investigation by the RCMP. Police have charged Rob King of Heavyweights with unlawful exportation of a controlled substance, possession, and attempt to export. RCMP allege King was illegally exporting ephedrine, that he sold through an online website.
Lead Investigator Cst. Tim Smith says the 15 month investigation spanned into the United States.
Smith says ephedrine is included in the controlled drugs and substances act under what’s called Schedule 6, and is a regulated drug. He says the gist of the investigation looked at the sending of ephedrine from Canada to the U.S. The question is, was there any regulatory approval to allow Mr. King to do that.
King will appear in court in October.
