Lawyer sues gym after personal trainer tells him to copy Beyoncé’s signature pelvic thrust ‘leaving him unable to sit down’
‘Beyoncé’s secret weapon’ pelvic moves evidently proved too much for one New York attorney who has filed a lawsuit against her personal training company claiming permanent physical damage.
Manhattan attorney Neil J Squillante claims that he can no longer sit down after taking on Focus Integrated Fitness’ prescribed workouts whose clients include Beyoncé, the New York Daily News reports.
The workouts, once called ‘Beyoncé’s Secret Weapon’ by NBC’s Extra, were said to be 100 percent safe while prescribed by a personal trainer to him in 2010. Instead he says they left him in excruciating pain which made the company laugh.
Injured: Attorney Neil J. Squillante, seen at an unknown date, has filed a lawsuit claiming permanent physical damage after undergoing personal training with a gym that’s used by Beyonce
Far too much: Focus Integrated Fitness in New York has catered to the physical fitness needs of singer Beyonce as well
After his first workout that May of that year he says he complained saying ‘his arms were so sore from the workout that he could not lift them.’
Squillante claims that one of the company’s co-owners, Gabriel Valencia, ‘chuckled’ and told him it was all ‘normal.’

After his third workout on May 20, Squillante says he suffered ‘stiffness in his right knee and hip.’ He says it all quickly grew worse.
‘Squillante began to suffer from severe, disabling pain in his pelvic region whenever he sits and other distress in his pelvic region, which continue to this day,’ his claim obtained by the Daily News states.
Beyoncé, who has previously openly discussed her intense workout routine with Focus Integrated Fitness, said that before joining she was running six miles a day.
Unsafe? Squillante claims that Focus, whose gym is seen, knew his physical capabilities and assured him that his personally-prescribed workouts would be safe
Squillante admits he ‘had no experience with vigorous physical exercise or strength training’ before signing up with the gym in 2010.
But he says the company was aware of his physical condition – while still describing himself as generally healthy and in shape – and said that they told him they would ‘develop exercise routines that were safe and appropriate.’
Squillante is now suing Focus for an unspecified amount in damages while accusing them of negligence.
