But this spring, the building will reopen as Gold’s Gym North, co-owner John Davis confirmed.

He explained how the space is about 4,000 square feet larger than the gym’s current home on Old Fort Parkway and will provide a variety of services, like Crossfit, an indoor track, indoor sports turf and workout equipment.

If you take our current club and the new club and add them together, you’ve got everything you could possibly want in fitness. It is not a duplication of our current club; it’s really an addition.”

Gold’s Gym North will also feature a children’s day care that is completely different from a traditional gym child care. It will feature children’s fitness equipment – miniature versions of the equipment parents use to exercise – complete with cartoon character themes.

“It’s going to be a fun place where kids can go and get acclimated to the idea of exercise,” Davis said. “It’s a good way to expose them at an early age and fight childhood obesity.”

He explained how several other fitness groups have been vying for the space at the corner of Northfield and Memorial boulevards.

“We won out,” Davis said. “It’s been a hot commodity since Publix closed.”

He added the current Gold’s Gym will be renamed Gold’s Gym South, to differentiate it from the up-and-coming Gold’s Gym North, which is expected to be open May 1.

Goodwill schedules job fairs

The organization will hold five job fairs next week, and three of those job fairs feature employers looking to fill positions in Rutherford County.

The Career Solutions center, located at 6808 Nolensville Pike in Brentwood, has scheduled a job fair from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 for multiple employers including CalsonicKansei North America, Inc., TRG Customer Solutions and Ambassador Personnel. Openings include various part-time and full-time positions in customer service, production and forklift operation across Middle Tennessee including Rutherford County.

Then, on Thursday, Feb. 21, the Antioch Career Solutions center, located at 3538 Murfreesboro Pike, will have a job fair from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for Ambassador Personnel. The temp agency is looking to fill dozens of positions for companies in Middle Tennessee including Davidson and Rutherford Counties. These positions are temp to hire full-time and include pickers and packers, forklift operators, reach truck operators and material handlers.

A second job fair will take place Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Madison Career Solutions center, located at 2101 Gallatin Road, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. for Aid & Assist At Home. The company is looking to hire multiple caregivers for 13 Tennessee counties: Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Montgomery, Wilson, Sumner, Robertson, Dickson, Trousdale, Cheatham, Stewart, Houston and Humphreys Counties. These employees will provide non-medical care and support services to seniors and persons with disabilities in the comfort of their own homes.

Airline launches nonstop service to Cancun

On Saturday, Aeromexico began nonstop service between Cancun, Mexico, and the Nashville International Airport.

The nonstop service will last through August 2013, according to a recent announcement.

The flight will depart from BNA on Saturday evenings and return from CUN on Sunday mornings. These new flights will be sold through FUNJET vacations, funjet.com.

“We are working hard to offer new destinations that our business community and leisure travelers want and markets that help Nashville attract more conventions and corporate relocations,” said Rob Wigington, president and chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, which owns and operates BNA.
