Denver-based Colorado Athletic Club announced Friday that it has purchased the 30-year-old Flatiron Athletic Club in Boulder for an undisclosed sum and pledged to make $1 million in upgrades to the 45,767-square-foot gym on Foothills Parkway.
CAC has a facility at 1821 30th St. in Boulder. Kevin Jackson, spokesman for CAC, said there will be “no reciprocity” between the two Boulder gyms for members initially.
The purchase of FAC brings the total number of CAC facilities to seven. Jackson said FAC eventually will be renamed Colorado Athletic Club-Flatiron.
Jackson said no changes are planned for membership pricing or fitness programs. In a statement, CAC president Ed Williams said the second Boulder location “will serve as a perfect complement” to the chain’s Twenty Ninth Street mall location.
According to the FAC website, the club was owned by managing partners Jens Husted and Keith McQuillen until Friday. Story ,Sports Club Co.
