Luxury fitness chain Equinox is coming under fire over sexual situations ad campaign

(WXYZ) – Luxury fitness chain Equinox is coming under fire after a new ad campaign that features super-skinny models in, what some are calling overtly sexual situations.

The photos can be viewed in this article published by the Huffington Post.  

Photographed by Terry Richardson, critics say the photos are misguided and seem to send the wrong message, with half-dressed, waif-thin women.

None of the featured photos include work-out scenarios or seem to promote physical fitness.

Instead, each picture comes with a one-word label, including ‘Brain Power’, ‘Coordination’, and ‘Flexibility’.

So far the ad has brought intense criticism from the public.

” Another couple million spent on the degradation of women. Good work fitness guys,” posted a Facebook user on the Equinox fan page.

Equinox is an upscale health club chain with outposts in New York, Dallas, Chicago, California and the East Coast.
