New Evolution Ventures, which owns Crunch Fitness and UFC Gyms, was founded by Mark Mastrov, who previously had founded 24 Hour Fitness. He is also one of the owners of the Sacramento Kings NBA team.
The 36,000-square-foot facility will be called 49ersFit. On June 16, it will begin accepting memberships, which will run $49 for individuals and $109 for families, Guido said in a video posted on 49ers.com. The facility is expected to open this fall. The club will feature strength and cardio areas, functional and group training areas, boxing classes, physical therapy, group fitness classes that include yoga and barre, an outside turf area for group classes, a kids club, an apparel store that sells 49er-themed fitness apparel, and a recovery lounge that will include cryotherapy and hydro massages.
Programs will be developed by the strength and conditioning coaches for the 49ers.
“The goal is to build these all around the Bay area,” Guido said in the video.
New Evolution also has plans to open a similar facility in the fourth quarter with the Chicago Bears, the company announced in January. The three-story, 60,000-square-foot facility, which will be called Bear Fit, will be in Vernon Hills, Illinois, just three miles from the Chicago Bears headquarters. The company is awaiting final permits, which are expected to be secured in July.
Plans are for Bears Fit to feature cardio and strength areas, open areas with turf space, meeting rooms and a retail store. The facility also will host TV and radio sessions with Bears coaches, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune.
In May 2017, Mastrov and his company opened Cowboys Fit in Frisco, Texas, in partnership with the Dallas Cowboys. That three-story, 60,000-square-foot facility features cardio and strength areas, a health and nutrition bar, turf workout area and an indoor/outdoor cycling room. Memberships run $88 per month for individuals and $188 per month for families, according to a media release.
