The new Planet Fitness off Shawnee Mission Parkway in the former Hobby Lobby building is on schedule to open by the end of the month, according to managing partner Greg Henson.

The 28,500 square-foot space is in the final stages of construction and the new gym will have over 100 pieces of cardio equipment, massage lounges, tanning and free fitness training. Memberships start at $10.00 per month.

“We think this will be great for the community and we are excited to open,” Henson said.

Planet Fitness is the largest big box fitness provider in the United States with over 1,000 locations. This will be the eighth Kansas City area Planet Fitness.

The facility will be open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Presale for the Shawnee location is in progress next door to the new gym at 13220 W. 62nd Terrace. Presale hours are 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
