Chesapeake man captures major Crossfit championship in California, $275,000 en Smith, 25, of Chesapeake won the CrossFit Games championship over a four-day span in Carson, Calif., getting the $275,000 top prize. The event sponsor, Reebok, calls him “the fittest man on Earth.”.
Smith, a Great Bridge High and Old Dominion graduate who has competed in Crossfit for six years, had placed third in 2011 and ’13. The event includes competitions such as swimming, weightlifting, running, walking on hands and moving sand bags.
After placing 34th in the competition’s second event, Smith didn’t finish lower than 11th the rest of the way. He won two events and was second in two others.
Smith is the owner and co-founder of CrossFitKrypton, a training facility in Great Bridge.
