Title Boxing Club Adds Drew Brees to Ownership Team

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees headlines a group of new owners added to the ownership team at Title Boxing Club.

Brees, a former National Football League Most Valuable Player who led the Saints to the Super Bowl XLIV title, is one of five new owners announced Monday by Title Boxing Club, Ann Arbor, Mich. Joining Brees are David Barr, Shelly and JD Sun and Doc Cohen.

Barr is the chairman and founder of PMTD Restaurants and its affiliates, which own and operate 23 KFC and Taco Bell restaurants. The Suns are co-founders of BrightStar Care, a health care staffing company. Cohen is a franchisee veteran of numerous brands, including Great American Cookies, Pretzelmaker and Coffee Beanery.

The new owners join existing Title Boxing Club owners John Rotche, Tom Lyons, Rick Washburn and Danny Campbell. President Susan Boresow joined the executive team in 2015.

“It’s not often in a person’s career when you get to work alongside the best of the best,” Rotche, Title Boxing Club’s CEO, said in a statement. “We’ve created the Dream Team of franchising, and I don’t think it’s possible to gather a more prominent group of leaders in one room than what we have at Title Boxing Club. With the experienced and creative minds of our new shareholders and Susan, the potential to make a lasting mark on the franchise and fitness space is limitless.”

Brees is no stranger to the fitness industry. He often credits the TRX Suspension Trainer for resurrecting his career after a shoulder injury and has done numerous training videos for TRX. Last fall, in a partnership with The Brees Dream Foundation, San Francisco-based TRX donated suspension trainers for each touchdown Brees threw in November to a school located in the city of the Saints’ opponents.

Brees also is a Jimmy John’s franchisee, bringing his own franchising experience and perspective to Title Boxing Club, which specializes in boxing and kickboxing fitness classes and is led by franchise management firm Franworth.

In January, Inc. magazine ranked Title Boxing Club as its No. 1 fastest-growing franchise. In February, Title Boxing Club announced a partnership with Everlast, maker of boxing, mixed martial arts and fitness-related products.
