Onelife picks up Gold’s Gym location in Hagerstown

Onelife picks up Gold’s Gym…..Onelife Fitness, which plans to open a new fitness center in the Valley Mall later this year, has acquired Gold’s Gym in Hagerstown.

“There are big plans in the works,” said Jack Conrad, the new general manager of the fitness facility at 562 Northern Ave.

Conrad, who has been with Onelife about three years, said there will be upgrades to the equipment “and just the general overall feel of the place.”

He said the change in ownership took effect Jan. 1. Members have been notified, he said.

Terms were not disclosed.

Last month Onelife Fitness announced it would create about 100 full- and part-time jobs when it opens a new center in the Valley Mall near Hagerstown.

“As of now, the plans are to keep (the former Gold’s Gym) open and running as a second facility in Hagerstown,” Conrad said.

That will include classes and other gym functions, he said.

“Our mission is to provide the ultimate fitness experience to every member, every time,” Conrad said.

The Valley Mall center is slated to open sometime during the third quarter of this year. Plans include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, indoor and outdoor turf workout areas and an indoor basketball court, among other amenities.

The center will occupy about 80,000 square feet of the former Macy’s store on the back side of the mall. According to the company’s announcement last month, the Valley Mall center will be the largest Onelife Fitness facility to date.

Onelife Fitness is part of US Fitness Holdings, which operates more than 45 full-service health and fitness clubs across three states and the District of Columbia, including Onelife Fitness clubs, Sport & Health clubs and Crunch Fitness locations.

The company has two locations in the Frederick area.
