Life Time Fitness Sued After Girl Recorded in Shower

The parents of a young girl are suing Life Time Fitness after a former day care worker at the company allegedly recorded the girl naked in the shower at the club when she was 4 years old.

ABC 15 Arizona reported the lawsuit on Monday. The alleged incident happened last year at a Life Time club in Scottsdale, Ariz. The plaintiffs are not named in the lawsuit.

Edward Orth was arrested in March 2015 at the club and was charged with 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor for allegedly taking sexually suggestive photos of underage girls in a swimming pool. Orth allegedly uploaded the video of the 4-year-old and other videos to a child pornography site, the TV station reported.

Attorneys for the parents claim Life Time Fitness allowed Orth to work at the club without proper fingerprint clearance, according to the report. They also claim in the complaint that two years before Orth was arrested, the Arizona Department of Health Services cited Life Time Fitness for failing to complete staff files for their childcare facility in Phoenix. The company allegedly did not complete staff files for its other clubs in the Phoenix area.

In a statement, Jason Thunstrom, spokesperson for Chanhassen, Minn.-based Life Time Fitness, told the TV station: “In accordance with our policy, we don’t comment on pending litigation. We intend to vigorously defend ourselves in this matter.”
