LA Fitness…Man Watched, Attacked Woman in Shower, Police Say

A man was arrested last week for allegedly spying on and attacking a woman who was showering in the locker room of a Michigan LA Fitness club.

Luis Augusto Ramirez, 49, was arrested last Wednesday and arraigned the following day on three counts that included indecent exposure by a sexually delinquent person, surveilling a nude person and assault and battery, the Oakland (Mich.) Press reported.

The alleged incident took place May 26 at the LA Fitness club in Troy, Mich. Police say a man was seen looking at a woman in a shower stall. After she told him he was in the wrong locker room, the woman later caught him peering under the shower stall. He then lunged at her before she ran out of the locker room, the newspaper reported.

“This is a rare occurrence, but it is certainly troubling,” Sgt. Meghan Lehman of the Troy Police Department told Detroit TV station WXYZ. “The victim reported it to us almost immediately after it occurred. She was able to provide us a very good description. We were able to identify him very quickly after it happened.”

Ramirez’s bond is at $50,000.
