HEALTH CLUB NEWS: Two more Gold’s Gym locations drop the brand!

HEALTH CLUB NEWS: Two more Gold’s Gym Say goodbye to Gold’s Gym; 2 Syracuse-area locatioand underns rebr new name.

HEALTH CLUB NEWS: Two more Gold’s GymGold’s Gym, which has been a fixture in the Syracuse area for more than 20 years, is no longer operating in the Syracuse area under that name.

The DeWitt and Liverpool Gold’s Gym locations continue to operate, but they are no longer affiliated with Gold’s Gym. They are now Elevate Fitness gyms, a locally-owned brand.

Elevate Fitness is operated by Tom and Tamara Muller. Tom Muller began working at the club in 1988, and began running the two gyms in 2005.HEALTH CLUB NEWS: Two more Gold’s Gym

Muller said operating independently will give the gym more flexibility and control.  In the past, Muller said the gym paid a small licensing fee for the Gold’s name.

“That fee has become more expensive, but it has come with less value,’ he said.

As an independent fitness club, Muller said the gym can make improvements, buy new equipment and add more classes – they are adding more yoga and cycling class right away.

Also, Elevate Fitness is launching an app in mid-September that will allow members to sign up for classes, earn rewards points for working out, track their fitness and more.

The change became effective Sept. 1, and the owners say members will not see any changes in club hours, pricing or benefits.

At the Liverpool gym, a new athletic training area with kettle bells, ropes and more is being built and there will be 15 new treadmills equipped with personal televisions.

In DeWitt, the pool is being renovated, and there will be new water fitness classes.HEALTH CLUB NEWS: Two more Gold’s Gym

Gold’s Gym travel passes won’t be good anymore for Elevate members, but they can work out at gyms under the IHRSA passport program.

Elevate Fitness – formerly Gold’s Gym – has locations at 5791 Widewaters Parkway in DeWitt and 7455 Morgan Road in Liverpool.
